With Summer finally here what better time to take full advantage of Melbourne’s glorious weather? There’s nothing like switching up your workout and getting some fresh air to build motivation. If you’re looking to take your training outdoors, here are some of our favourite routes in Melbourne. Go on, let nature take over.
It might seem like an obvious choice, but The Tan in Melbourne is one of the most popular running tracks for a reason. Within close quarters to the CBD, it’s perfect for easy access. Surrounded by the iconic Botanical gardens, this 3.8km track is ideal for a leisurely walk, run or circuit training.
Sometimes it’s good to escape the city and clear your head. Starting just above the Thousand Steps at One Tree Hill, the Dandenongs is a 6km trail. It’s all tall trees, lush greenery and plenty of hills. Talk about the scenic route.
Merri Creek Trail
Surprisingly close to the city, the Merri Creek Trail is lined with weeping willows and grasslands. Only 5km outside of the CBD, we recommend leaving the headphones at home to take in your surroundings. With a total distance of 21km it’s ideal for anything from bike rides to leisurely walks or a scenic run.
Capital City Trail
Capital City Trail is a great all-rounder for an afternoon run. Following along the Yarra river and passing by Southbank and the Arts Centre, this popular route is like taking a tour of Melbourne. If you’re looking to really soak up your surroundings, why not switch out your run for a bike ride?
One of Melbourne’s most iconic spots, Beach Road is a must try. Think concrete trails hugging the coastline of some of Melbourne’s best beaches. Popular for its range of cafes, you should definitely stop for a post run feed… after a quick dip of course.
